South African Justice Minister, Mr Ronald Lamola, Elected Vice President of Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, Igniting New Era of Cooperation and Legal Advancement

Mr. Ronald Lamola (MP), Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, has been elected Vice President of the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization during its 61st Annual meeting in Bali, Indonesia.

The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization has come a long way since its inception in 1956 as the Asian Legal Consultative Committee (ALCC) after the Bandung Conference held in Indonesia in April 1955. The Organization's actions are firmly grounded in the principles of decoloniality, which has enabled it to engage in productive dialogues, share valuable insights and knowledge, and offer recommendations on matters of mutual interest with legal implications.

With the consent of the governments of Member States, the views of the Organization on matters of international law referred to it are communicated to the United Nations, other institutions, and international organizations.

Lamola said, " This election as Vice President is a testament to the Organization's commitment to promoting cooperation among nations and ensuring justice for all.
