DESTEA obtains unqualified audit outcome for 2022/23 financial year
The Free State DESTEA MEC Thabo Meeko welcomed the significant improvement in audit outcomes from qualified audit opinion for the financial year 2021/22 to unqualified audit outcomes for the 2022/23 financial year.
An unqualified audit outcome means that the financial statements of the department are sound in all material aspects.
According to MEC Meeko, these audit outcomes are backed by valid, reliable and tangible evidence demonstrating the department's commitment to improve internal controls and to implement AGSA"s recommendations.
“We commend the staff at all levels and relevant stakeholders involved in the department's efforts to striving to comply with accounting standards when accelerating service delivery to the people of the Free State," MEC Meeko said.
The department will continuously assess the effectiveness of risk management and audit action plans.
"Despite budget constraints, DESTEA will remain undeterred in delivering on its mandate, and the commitment to the adherence to good governance is reaffirmed in this regard," said MEC Meeko
He said his department will continue working hard to obtain a clean audit.
