Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will on Saturday, 13 January 2007,
attend the funeral service of the former State President of South Africa,
Marais Viljoen.
The former State President passed away on Thursday, 4 January 2007 at the
Muelmed Hospital in Pretoria aged 91.
The funeral will be held in Pretoria at the Pretoria East Dutch Reformed
Church. Thereafter the body of the former State President will be flown from
the Waterkloof Airforce Base to the Bloemspruit Airforce Base for burial in
Bloemfontein.
The former State President will then be laid to rest in his final resting
place at the Heroes Acre in a private ceremony. There will be a military led
detachment at both the Waterkloof and Bloemspruit Airforce Bases.
Members of the media are welcome to attend the funeral service, the
Waterkloof Airforce Base procession and the arrival at Bloemspruit Airforce
Base.
Members of the media interested in covering the procession at the Waterkloof
(Pretoria) and the Bloemspruit (Bloemfontein) Airforce Bases are requested to

08h00: Members of the media arrive for the arrival of the Deputy President
Mlambo-Ngcuka and the Viljoen Family.
09h00: The Funeral Service commences.
11h00: The cortege departs for Waterkloof Airforce Base.
On arrival at the Waterkloof Airforce Base Bearers and Pall Bearers move with
the remains from the Hearse to the Aircraft. The stationary SANDF Leading
Detachment (South African National Ceremonial Guard) presents arms as they move
past. The bereaved family members are conducted to the aircraft and assume
their seats.
11h30: The Special Flight departs for Bloemspruit Military Airforce Base.
12h15: Arrival.
On arrival at the Bloemspruit Airforce Base the bereaved family members descend
from the aircraft and once again assume their positions between the Aircraft
and the Hearse. The Bearers and Pall Bearers move with the remains from the
Aircraft to the Hearse, Salute and withdraw.
The Cortege and bereaved family members depart for the President�s Acre.
12h45: Private Burial at the Heroes Acre.
13h30: The bereaved family members depart for Bloemspruit Military Airforce
Base.
