In support of the People and Parks—Wetlands month 2023, the Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), South African National Parks (SANParks) together with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DEFF) will embark on a three-day clean-up and awareness campaign roadshow.
The People and Parks Program (P&PP) aimed to facilitate the active participation of rural communities by supporting resolutions of land claims in Protected Areas (PAs), strengthening governance participation, and implementing a capacity-building awareness-raising strategy.
The clean-up and awareness campaign roadshow will run as follows:
- Gariep Dam Nature Reserve, 30 January 2023, from 09h00 to 14h00
- Tussen Die Riviere Nature Reserve (near Bethulie), 31 January 2023, 09h00 to 14h00.
- Seekooeivlei Nature Reserve & WHS (Memel), 01 February 2023, 09h00- 14h00
