Freedom Park will tomorrow Thursday 29 October 2015 host a networking Session with Embassies resident in Pretoria, the City of Tshwane.
This event is a culmination of an establishment of a consistent consultation between Freedom Park and international missions’ situated in the Capital City. Stakeholders at this long awaited event envisage to create a platform to network and exchange ideas, discover new programs, partnerships and initiate relations between Freedom Park and the various Embassies.
The Diplomats hold a potential not only to engage in concrete programmes that could cement relationships between South Africa and respective countries but has a potential to explore a whole lot of heritage and cultural exchanges programmes especially given the effort that the South African government has done to establish relationships. What is core to Freedom Park relating to this event is to support government initiatives in regard to national and international relations in line with the organization’s mandate being, nation building, social cohesion, peace and reconciliation.
Participants at this event include Ambassadors, High Commissioners, The Charge d’affaires of the Embassies, Departmental officials.
“We have identified the Diplomatic Missions as one of our key stakeholders at Freedom Park and this event seeks to cement that partnership moving forward”, say the Acting CEO of Freedom Park Ms Jane Mufamadi.
Some of the programmes include but not limited to exchange programme, where embassies bring their youth to Freedom Park and Freedom Park also takes its officials and its constituencies to visit countries represented. Embassies will be encouraged to continue to donate invaluable archival materials to Freedom Park as this is critical for the advancement of the Pan African Archives Collections.
Other activities will include sharing of knowledge and experience in the conception, development and commissioning of liberation heritage monument like Freedom Park. Embassies will be impressed upon to make Freedom Park a key point of visit by their Heads of State including their citizens. Freedom Park has thus far realized numerous head of state visitations through efforts such as these, it is therefore imperative to continue build and nature relationships with these embassies. Support in terms of strategic marketing and communication will also be discussed.
