New South African Tourism Board appointed

At its meeting of Wednesday, 28 June 2006, Cabinet approved the appointment
of a new South African Tourism Board.

The following Board members have been appointed for a period of three years,
commencing on 1 July 2006:

1. Chairperson - Mr Jabu Mabuza, Chief Executive Officer: Tsogo Sun Holdings
(Pty) Ltd,
2. Deputy Chairperson - Dr Danisa Baloyi, Executive Director: National Business
Caucus,
3. Ms Yvonne Johnston, Chief Executive Officer: International Marketing
Council,
4. Dr Tanya Abrahamse, Executive Director: Tourism Business Council of South
Africa,
5. Mr Frank Kilbourn, Director: Strategy Partners,
6. Mr Moeketsi Mosola, Chief Executive Officer: South African Tourism,
7. Mr Johan van der Walt, Chief Financial Officer: South African Tourism,
8. Ms Nosipho Jezile Chief Operating Officer: DEAT,
9. Ms Manana Moroka, Chief Executive Officer: Proudly South African,
10. Mr Zwelibanzi Mntambo, Director: Sediba Consultancy,
11. Mr Bheki Khumalo, Head of Corporate Affairs: Siemens,
12. Mr Mike Lutzeyer Owner: Grootbos Nature Reserve,
13. Ms Amor Malan Project Manager: Quadriplegic Association of Gauteng,
14. Mr Eddy Khoza Chief Executive Officer: Johannesburg Tourism Company,
15. Ms Bridgette Radebe President SA Mining Development Association.

The Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Mr Marthinus van
Schalkwyk, today wished the newly appointed board every success in leading
South African Tourism to even greater success. "The fact that more than 7,3
million international travellers experienced everything our beautiful country
had to offer last year is the most positive indicator yet that tourism is truly
the new gold of our country," said the Minister.

Minister van Schalkwyk further added, "Tourism has been placed at the
forefront in the economic growth plan of government�s Accelerated and Shared
Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA). This should be seen as a
compliment but a huge responsibility and opportunity. I believe that the newly
appointed board will step up to this challenge and prove that this sector is
ready to meet its responsibilities."
