Minister of Health Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will visit King Edward and
Addington Hospitals, to assess how health workers are coping with the festive
rush of patients due to road accidents and domestic and public violence.
Accompanied by the KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Health, the Minister's fact-finding
mission will start at King Edward Hospital on Saturday, 29 December 2007, at
19h00 and she will proceed to Addington Hospital near the beachfront.
Recent reports are that hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal have treated more than 8
000 patients since 16 December, including patients who were injured due to road
accidents, gunshots, domestic and public violence.
