The Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang and Health MECs are to
meet the leadership of five health sector unions in Pretoria today, 5 July
2007, to discuss the measures to be taken to normalise the delivery of health
services after the public service strike.
The meeting will mainly seek to mobilise commitment for the discussion and
finalisation of the occupation specific dispensation which should improve the
remuneration of health professionals retrospectively from 1 July 2007. The
meeting will also discuss the issue of minimum service agreement aimed at
protecting the delivery of health services from negative effects of an
industrial action.
