Health Minister inaugurates National Consultative Health Forum
(NCHF)

Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will be inaugurating the National
Consultative Health Forum (NCHF), formerly known as the Health Summit, as
required by the new National Health Act. The first Summit was held in 2001
where more than 600 stakeholders from all levels in the health sector
participated. The second Summit was held in 2004.

The third meeting under the new banner of the NCHF will take place at the
Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from 18 to 19 May 2006 and is
expected to draw participants representing various stakeholders and interest
groups in the sector.

The National Consultative Health Forum forms part of the Department's
programme to monitor changes in the Health System. The Forum provides a
platform from which the progress of transformation in the Health Sector over
the last decade can be reviewed with the broad participation of stakeholders in
the health sector.

Delegates will deliberate on a variety of key strategic issues pertinent to
the sector including: Government priority health programmes including healthy
lifestyle, tuberculosis (TB) and prevention of HIV and AIDS, human resources,
health policy and planning health industry
