The Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is recovering steadily
after she underwent a successful elective liver transplantation on 14 March
2007.
Minister Tshabalala-Msimang has returned to her home in Pretoria on an
ambulatory discharge from Johannesburg General Hospital. She regularly visits
the hospital for appropriate care including care of her wound.
The attending doctor will decide on when Minister Tshabalala-Msimang will no
longer require post-operative ambulatory care and will also determine the
appropriate period required for her to recuperate fully from the operation.
The Department of Health wishes to thank all those who have provided support
to the Minister during this period and we wish her a speedily and full
recovery.
