Minister Tshabalala-Msimang will grace the National
Reproductive Health event

The Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, will grace the National
Reproductive Health event in Free State to commemorate the 50th anniversary of
the historic protest march of women to the Union Building in Pretoria on 9
August 1956, the year 2006 has been declared as the year of "Women in South
Africa".

Time: 10h00 – 13h00
Venue: Charles Mopeli Stadium, Phuthaditjhaba, Qwa-Qwa

In the interest of the well-being of women, particularly those located in
rural areas, the focus of this community mobilisation initiative will be on
"strengthening maternal, children and women's health programmes".

The objectives of the event are:
* to create awareness on reproductive health in general with focus on healthy
lifestyles, cervical cancer screening, contraception and male involvement in
reproductive health activities
* to promote public utilisation of reproductive health services in their
area(s)
* to promote public or community ownership of reproductive health
programmes
* to encourage the public to take responsibility for their own (reproductive)
health.
