Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, will officially announce
the new draft Medicine Dispensing Fee during a media conference to be held at
the Midrand Conference Centre on 9 March 2006 at 10:30am.
This is in response to last year's Constitutional Court's ruling that the
Pricing Committee should reconsider the disputed dispensing fee of 26% of the
single exit price capped at R26 and come up with a more appropriate fee to
ensure that the country maintains a viable retail pharmacy industry as well as
make medicine more affordable.
The Minister of Health will also release the revised National Human
Resources Plan for Health to provide skilled human resources for healthcare in
South Africa.
