Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, Mpumalanga MEC of Health Pogisho
Pasha and Mjindi Executive Mayor will visit the Juvenile Centre at Barberton
Prison to talk to the young inmates who are in jail as a result of drug abuse
and trafficking.
The visit to be conducted at 8:30am marks the International Day against Drug
Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Monday, 26 June 2006.
The Department of Health is targeting the schools, shebeens and taxi ranks
in Barberton because of reports of increased availability and illegal
trafficking of drugs in the area.
The Monday's programme will start at Barberton Prison 8:30am, followed by a
three km Health Walk.
On the way to Emjindini Stadium for a community event, the Minister, MEC and
Executive Mayor will stop at Ekujabuleni Centre for the physical challenged
youth and at a Drop-in-Centre for orphans.
The musician Kabelo has been invited to talk about drug abuse as well as
entertain the crowd.

Garden Community Project, Jabuleni Centre for the Disabled (Physical challenged
youth), Dropping-in Centre for Orphans.
