under-developed Inanda near Durban to address the fears of the largely
unemployed youth on Sunday

Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, accompanied by
KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Health, Ms Peggy Nkonyeni, and Mayor Mr Obed Mlaba will
visit Inanda community to address the needs of the youth in the area on Sunday,
19 February 2006
The visit forms part of the Department's planned activities around the
Reproductive Health Month to create more awareness about the need to reduce
incidents of HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), drug and alcohol
abuse among amongst the youth.
Inanda has a total population of 199 291, according to Census 1996. It
consists of both formal and informal housing with some of the sections of the
area densely populated and largely informal, with other sections typically
rural.
Only 24% of the population is employed with reports of high levels of crime
and high incidents of HIV, TB, drug and alcohol abuse affecting mostly
unemployed youth of Inanda, KwaMashu and Ntuzuma.
