Pilanesberg - National Health Minister, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, will
lead a delegation of all health MECs, Heads of Departments and other council
members on a three-days visit to the North West Province, from Wednesday to
Friday, 21 to 23 June 2006.
Kwa-Maritane Resort outside Pilannesburg near Sun City will host the 60
strong delegation, which will visit all the four province districts and some of
our health facilities and interact with stakeholders, municipalities and
patients.
On Wednesday the North West Health MEC, Ms Nomonde Rasmeni, and the
Provinceâs Premier, Ms Edna Molewa, will treat our guest to a welcoming gala
dinner at Kwa-Maritane Resort starting at 19h00 sharp.
The visit is part of the NHC resolve to help provinces and districts to deal
with health challenges, understand and appreciate areas of excellence and most
importantly assess areas of weakness with the view to find everlasting
solutions. âOur Department has been voted the best performing Department in the
province by the Honourable Premier and we are determine to expose to the
Minister and the entire delegation, why we are regarded as the best despite
serious challenges of shortage of staff and the province being over 70% rural,â
explained MEC Rasmeni.
The entire day on Thursday will be dedicated to field visits with the
Minister heading to the recently floods hit disaster areas of Taung in the
Bophirima district, while the Deputy Minister will lead a group of MECs to the
Southern District to view the impressive award winning Klerksdorp/Tshepong,
Potchefstroom, and Witrand hospital complex.
We are hoping to use the visit as an âindependent toolâ to assess our
facilities and staff in our quest to provide decent and affordable health care
services for all. âWe are confident that, the visit will uplift our staff
morale and help us identify areas of weakness and excellence,â concluded
Rasmeni.
An important feature of the visit will be a feedback de-briefing session on
Thursday evening when all the groupsâ returns from the field visit and evaluate
the visits with all our managers and adopt a programme of action for these
facilities.
Members of the media are hereby invited to be part of the NHC visit to the
province.
