Prevention of Mother-to-Child-transmission Global Partners
Forum

United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) and the World Health Organisation
(WHO) are hosting a two-day Global Partners Forum to discuss universal access
to the Prevention of Mother-to-Child-transmission of HIV (PMTCT) service in
Johannesburg starting on Monday, 26 November.

The Forum brings together representatives of countries from at least four
regions affected by HIV and AIDS in the world: these are Africa, Asia,
Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Latin America.

Unicef is expected to present a report card on the progress in global
response to mother to child transmission of HIV. The Forum will also discuss a
global strategy for accelerating PMTCT programmes and adopt a Declaration on
the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV.

The Forum starts at 09h00 with an official opening session that will be
addressed by the Ministers of Health of Botswana, Nigeria and South Africa.
