M Shilowa to address commissioning and naming ceremony of Gautrain

Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will on Thursday, 13 December 2007, address
all the stakeholders, including members of the public, MECs and the media
during the commissioning and naming ceremony of Gautrain Tunnel Boring Machine
(TBM).

Among the dignitaries who will be in attendance are Public Transport, Roads
and Works MEC Ignatius Jacobs; Finance and Economic Affairs MEC Paul Mashatile;
Local Government MEC Qedani Mahlangu and Gautrain Project Manager Jack van der
Merwe.

The arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machine in October 2007 received enormous
interest from the public, media, specialist engineers, employers and the
project owners. The state-of-art Tunnel Boring Machine – the largest piece of
equipment (106 metres long and 6,8 metres diameter) – is built specifically for
the Gautrain Project and is expected to speed up the construction process
thereof.
