for the appointment of the Metrology Advisory Committee members

The Minister of Trade and Industry calls for nominations for persons to the
Metrology Advisory Committee in terms of section 6 (1) of the Trade Metrology
Act No 77 of 1973 (the Act). In terms of the Act, the Minister of Trade and
Industry appoints members. To ensure an open and transparent process in the
appointment of members and to ensure equitable representation, organisations
and individuals are invited to submit names of suitable candidates.
In terms of section 6 (2) of the Act, the composition of the committee is
the director, who shall be the chairperson, not more than five persons
appointed on account of their scientific or technical knowledge or commercial
or industrial experience, and the Deputy Director of Trade Metrology, who shall
be the vice chairperson. The Minister will appoint a Metrology Advisory
Committee to assist and advise the Director in the performance of certain of
his functions under the Act, which will include the appointment and
qualifications of inspectors and verification officers, the appointment of
examiners, the approval of measuring instruments and also in connection with
such matters as the Ministry may refer to the Committee from time to time.
Nominations must be accompanied by a comprehensive curriculum vitae, and
should be submitted to the Minister of Trade and Industry by not later than 8
