Development Community (SADC) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lesotho
counterpart, Minister Mpeo Mahse-Moiloa in Lesotho

South Africa's pivotal role as a member of the Southern African Development
Community will be further strengthened when Labour Minister Membathisi
Mdladlana jets off to Maseru to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with his
Lesotho counterpart, Minister Mpeo Mahse-Moiloa on Monday, 30 October.
At the core of the MoU's agenda will be issues relating to progress made on
compensation issues, the general welfare of migrant workers, employment of
mineworkers, provident fund, difficulties encountered by widows in trying to
access death benefits for their husbands, repatriation of funds to Lesotho, and
unemployment insurance fund deductions.
Other issues pertains to the non support of dependants of deceased workers,
review of the labour law agreement (Lesotho & South Africa), capacity
building, health and safety, national employment services, skills development,
and HIV and AIDS partnership programme.
