Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana has commended the mass employment of
Information Technology (IT) sector graduates at various government levels,
saying the move was a step in the right direction.
The Minister was giving a keynote address at the graduation ceremony of 262
students who obtained national certificates - 87 percent of whom have already
been employed, mostly in government.
Minister Mdladlana challenged the private sector to emulate the government
in its efforts to ensure that all those that undergo training are employed, in
line with the governmentâs poverty alleviation and job creation programmes.
The 262 students have graduated at both National Qualification Framework
(NQF) levels four and five under the auspices of the Isset Sectoral Education
and Training Authority (SETA).
Minister Mdladlana slammed service providers who sourced funds from the
Department under the guise of empowering the unemployed with skills.
âI will never tolerate the abuse of government funds and of our young people
by these unscrupulous service providers,â he said.
