Minister Mdladlana to chair the 297th Session of the
International Labour Organisation (ILO) Governing Body

Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana will tomorrow, Saturday, jet off to
Geneva to resume his official duties as an ILO Governing Body Chairperson.

Minister Mdladlana who will be attending the 297th Session of the ILO
Governing Body will also be expected to chair the programme on Financial and
Administrative Committee set for 8 and 9 November as well as the Working Party
on Social Dimension of Globalisation.

As a result of this nomination South Africa will play a crucial role in the
international arena and will participate in the following committees:

* Committee on Legal Issues and International Labour Standards (LILS)
* Committee on Employment and Social Policy (ESP)
* Committee on Technical Co-operation (TC).

After chairing in Geneva the Minister will then proceed to another ILO
meeting in Italy between 14 and 17 November.
