M Gigaba to visit Northern Cape, 9 to 10 Mar

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs visits the Northern Cape
province

The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba will embark on a two-day
visit (9-10 March 2007) to the Northern Cape province as part of the Ministry's
broader programme of visiting Home Affairs offices to get first-hand experience
on issues hampering service delivery.

The programme aims to ensure that correct systems are put in place,
procedures clearly outlined and capacity appropriately deployed to benefit the
public by delivering the correct documentation, to the right person in the
shortest time possible in line with Batho Pele principles.

The Northern Cape is the 6th province to be visited by the Deputy Minister
since this programme was initiated late last year and he will be accompanied by
senior management from the Head Office.

The programme:
On Friday, 9 March 2007, the Deputy Minister and the Home Affairs senior
officials will spend the day providing front-line services to the public.

From 09h00 to 13h00 the Deputy Minister will be at the Pampierstad Home
Affairs Regional Office and from 14h00 onwards he will be at the Kimberley Home
Affairs Regional Office.

On Saturday, 10 March 2007, the Deputy Minister will meet with all managers
and staff of Home Affairs in the province to discuss their role in the
implementation of the national strategy of the department and to further asses
the additional capacity needs of the Northern Cape province.

Transport to Pampierstad Home Affairs Regional Office has been arranged for
members of the media.
