Ministerial conference, Africa-European Union (EU) on International Migration
and Development, in Tripoli, Libya between 22 and 23 November 2006.

The purpose of the conference is to find a common solution to challenges
facing countries of the world on migration and development.

Central to the agenda of the conference is the facilitation of easy legal
movement of persons and goods in line with countries’ developmental agendas.
This would also assist in poverty alleviation.

The conference will focus on the five main thematic points, i.e.
* migration and development including the role of remittances
* migration and peace, security and stability
* migration and human rights
* migration and human resources (brain drain)
* fight against illegal migration, smuggling of immigrants and trafficking in

Africa and Europe. The declaration would help to guide bilateral engagements
between individual countries and the EU.
