The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, will address a
'ground-breaking initiative' aimed at promoting the participation of young
people in democratic processes of the country in Nelspruit tomorrow, 21
February 2006.
Dubbed 'Youth Democracy Open Day', the initiative is a partnership between
Home Affairs and the Department of Education.
The Deputy Minister launched the programme in Limpopo Province last
year.
Young people from around nearby colleges and tertiary institutions will get
an opportunity to engage the Deputy Minister on issues that affect them.
The role of youth in the forthcoming local government elections will also
take centre-stage during the discussions.
