Registrar of Deeds and Surveyor-General

Relocation of the offices of the Chief Registrar of Deeds,
Registrar of Deeds and Surveyor-General

7 March 2006

The Pretoria offices of the Chief Registrar of Deeds, Registrar of Deeds and
Surveyor-General will relocate to the new premises in the Merino/Rentmeester
Complex at the corner of Pretorius and Bosman Streets in the city during April
2006.

These offices are currently at the Department of Public Works at the corner
of Vermeulen and Bosman Streets. Over the years these offices, together with
the Department of Public Works, have been sharing working space to service
their different clients efficiently and effectively. As a result, pressure for
office space has been mounting making the relocation inevitable.

The office of the Surveyor-General will move from 7 to 10 April, the Chief
Registrar of Deeds will move offices during the weekend of 22 and 23 April
while the Registrar of Deeds will relocate during the long weekend of 27 April
and 1 May.

The Office of the Registrar of Deeds will be closed for business on Friday,
28 April.

Although the office of the Surveyor-General will open on Friday, 7 April,
and Monday, 10 April, the relocation of records and other equipment will mean
that only limited services will be available on those days.

The Department requests the indulgence and co-operation of all its clients
during the relocation of the above components. Considerable planning has gone
into then design of the new accommodation to improve efficiency and to create
an environment, which is conducive to client service.
