The office of the Surveyor-General within the Department of Land Affairs in
KwaZulu-Natal invites members of the media to the official opening of a new
information centre next week. The opening of the centre will coincide with the
celebrations of the Batho Pele Month initiative.
The information centre will enable the public to view computer-generated
images of all land parcels of the province and also reaching the public to make
sure they are well informed about the services provided by the Department.
The creation of the information centre has three benefits for the
department:
* increased security for the billions of rands worth of property documents
that are housed in the Surveyor-General's and Deeds office's archives
* providing a better interface for clients and the general public to access
land information, including maps, aerial photographs, ortho-photos, diagrams,
general plans, sectional title plans, title deeds and electronic Cadastral
Information Services (CIS)
* creating a one-stop shop for all information regarding land registration,
including several self-help desks for frequent users.
