Labour on Free State fraudster J Banda

Be on the look out for fraudsters

5 February 2007

The Department of Labour has warned service providers to be on the look out
for a crime syndicate operating in the Free State, and scrutinise orders to
determine their authenticity.

This is in the wake of the incident where 60 laptop computers and 300 hard
drives were ordered to the Thaba Nchu labour centre by an 'official,' Jonathan
Banda, who claimed to be working for the Department of Labour.

This syndicate is utilising the department's name to order Information
Technology (IT) services. 'Jonathan Banda,' the fake name attached on these
orders with two different signatures, is using companies based in the
province.

It is reported 'Banda' has already made five orders which include 60 laptop
computers and 300 hard drives using the Government's orders.

Police and the department are investigating.
