backlog

The Compensation Fund's of the ongoing nationwide Services Imbizo is proving
to be a roaring success as they bite into the backlog in a big way. Over R10
million has already been paid out to rightful claimants in the Free State and
Western Cape provinces since the campaign kicked off a couple of months ago and
is currently closing the year with payouts in KwaZulu-Natal for the next three
weeks before it resumes next year.
The KwaZulu-Natal leg of the campaign entails stopovers at the Richard's Bay
Labour Centre where it is currently underway (11 Lira Link at the town's
Central Business District) before it moves on to the Durban and
Pietermaritzburg Labour Centres. The Services Imbizo is a national effort by
the CF to reduce the backlog of payments of medical claims to service providers
as well as other service areas.
About R6 million was paid out during the Free State leg of the campaign
alone, while R4 million and R300 00 was paid out in Cape Town and in George
respectively during the Western Cape tour. The campaign remains for five
working days in one site.
A dedicated team from the fund's Pretoria headquarters travel to the
designated centres to provide service where all approved claims with all
necessary documentation are processed and finalised on the spot. Apart from
medical payments, the fund's officials adjudicate claims, deal with all
relevant compensation queries and promote the usage of the Compensation Fund
call centre (0860 105 350) by clients.
