Awareness Campaign

All members of the media are invited to the launch of the Project Management
Unit (PMU) and the Land Rights Awareness Campaign to be held in the Western
Cape province during the weekend. The Minister for Agriculture and Land
Affairs, honourable Ms Lulu Xingwana and the honourable MEC of Agriculture in
the province, Mr Cobus Dowry, will officiate at the ceremony.
The PMU is the agency of the Land and Agrarian Reform Project (LARP). It is
responsible for fast tracking land delivery towards the attainment of the
Presidential Priorities for 2007 to 2009. The agency's broad objectives are to
accelerate the sustainable land redistribution, focusing on farm dwellers and
communal farmers.
The objectives of Land Rights Awareness Campaign are inter alia to:
* create awareness to the public and specific target audience about land
rights
* provide farm dwellers access to a network of services relating to tenure
security.
