Celebrating BEE farming in the Eastern Cape

14 August 2007

The Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, Lulama Xingwana, will on
Saturday launch the R20 million Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Poultry
Farming Project and also preside in the celebrations for the success of the
public-private partnership between local government and the agricultural
sector.

In January 2004, Rocklands Poultry and a group of BEE farmers initiated a
move to enter into a trade agreement to assist the farmers in setting up an
infrastructure to supply the poultry producer with top-class broiler chicken.
To date this collaboration is the biggest public-private joint venture in
farming in the Eastern Cape.

Details of the launch are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 18 August 2007
Time: 12h30 to 15h00
Place: Loerie Hoogte Farm - 60 km from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
