The KZN Legislature Standing Committee on The Quality of life and status of
women, children, youth and people with disabilities Schools' Visits.
The Media are hereby advised that the Standing Committee on the Status of
Women, Children, Youth and People with Disabilities will be visiting St Martins
School for the Disabled and Gamalakhe Lower Primary School on Wednesday, 25
October 2006, at 09h00 in Port Shepstone on the south coast.
The purpose of the visit is to establish if there is adequate and proper
infrastructure in place to cater for the needs of the disabled children in
these schools. The Committee would also establish if these children with
special needs have access to welfare and health services and the problems faced
by these schools. This will in turn assist the government to make appropriate
and informed interventions in order to assist these schools to cater for the
children with special needs.
