Indaba

In order for the KwaZulu-Natal province to ensure the streamlining of its
initiatives for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, it is imperative that all sectors
and stakeholders are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
In this regard, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government will host a 2010
Football World Cup Strategic Indaba on Wednesday, 6 June 2007, at the Inkosi
Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban.
The aim of the indaba is to ensure that the various stakeholders and role
players:
* are properly appraised of the 2010 commitments, roles and
responsibilities
* understand the host city and stadium commitments and roll out plans
* are appraised of the provincial strategies, programmes and action plans.
Specific outcomes of strategies and action plans will also be finalised at
the indaba.
Participants at the indaba will include Premier Sibusiso Ndebele, Members of
Executive Council (MECs), heads of the various provincial government
departments as well as mayors and municipal managers from the various district
and local municipalities. Representatives from business, civil society,
religious institutions and other relevant organisations have also been invited
to attend.
Photo journalists are invited to a site visit to view progress on the
construction of the new soccer stadium in Durban which will take place from
07h00 to 08h30 on 6 June 2007. Access to the site is restricted and therefore
those attending must confirm their attendance as per the contact details listed
below by no later than 15h00 on Tuesday, 5 June 2007 and must be at the stadium
promptly at 07h00.
Media are also invited to the stakeholder briefing session at the Inkosi
Albert Luthuli Convention Centre commencing at 14h30 on 6 June 2007.
Journalists attending this session must also confirm their attendance by no
later than 15h00 on Tuesday, 5 June 2007, as per the contact details listed
