Young Communicators Awards

24 March 2006

KwaZulu-Natal’s best teen English (non-mother tongue) orator will be crowned
tomorrow, 25 March 2006, when 12 finalists will show their ways with words in a
4-6 minute speech, as well as in an impromptu speech. The winner of the
KwaZulu-Natal final rounds will contest in a national competition in
Johannesburg.

The annual Young Communicators Awards is an important South African public
speaking competition that has been jointly sponsored by the Sowetan and Anglo
American since 1994.

Besides improving oral communication in English the competition also
embraces the concept of nation building, prepares our learners for the
professional working environment and nurtures assertiveness and confidence
among our young people.

Date: 25 March 2006
Time: 9:30 for 10am
