KwaZulu-Natal Arts and Culture to host a musical event by B
Mnomiya

A prolific South African composer is to lead a celebration of his choral
music over two evenings in Durban next week.

Simon Bhekathini Phelelani Mnomiya, known in the choral community as "SBP,"
teams up with the ensemble and soloists of the University of KwaZulu-Natal
(UKZN) Opera Studio and Choral Academy (OSCA) as well as the local choir,
African Chorus, in a programme dedicated to his music. Mnomiya's work "Ihele"
has been adopted as the anthem of the University. The national Department of
Education has selected a series of his compositions for music education in
schools. He lectures at UKZN in Choral Studies.

Guest soloists will include, Thokozane MaMkhize Ndlovu, Khulile Mnomiya,
Lwazi Ncube and Zenneth Cibane. The "Best of SBP" concerts, which are supported
by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism, will be at the
OSCA Theatre in the Jubilee Centre, Howard College Campus, Princess Alice
Avenue, on Monday, 30 April, at 07h00 and Tuesday, 1 May, at 06h00. Tickets
will be available at the door or can be reserved by telephone at 031 260 2869.
Prices are as follows: R20 for adults and R10 for children, students and
pensioners. Group concessions can be negotiated by prior arrangement.
