Khabisi Mosunkutu, takes Bontle ke Botho roadshow to Sharpeville
12 September 2007
The Gauteng MEC for Agriculture, Conservation and Environment, Khabisi
Mosunkutu, will, on 13 September 2007, mobilise communities to register
projects for the Bontle ke Botho (BkB) campaign awards.
Mosunkutu will encourage and mobilise the community to submit entry forms
for the BkB Awards that will be held early in December. Most importantly, the
community will be encouraged to intensify their work on the projects that will
be submitted for the competition and to submit their environmental project
plans.
Initiated during 2002 after the World Summit on Sustainable Development
(WSSD), the BkB campaign engages schools and wards in projects aimed at
maintaining a healthy environment. The project has not only succeeded in
building sustainable environmental projects in various townships across
Gauteng, but has also managed to create jobs and helps fight poverty.
Officials of the department will be available to explain enrolment
procedures as well as the prizes that can be won. The following key issues will
be emphasised:
* broader participation of various stakeholders in BKB
* registration to participate in BKB
* submission of BKB entry forms
* the need to start working on environmental projects.
