Kazakhstan

19 July 2007

Tshwane - Transport Minister Jeff Radebe has today met with the Minister of
Trade and Industry in Kazakhstan, Minister Orazbakov, on a courtesy call by the
latter.

Both Ministers used the opportunity to share information on major transport
investments made by the two countries respectively in order to bolster the
growth of their economies. Areas of co-operation were also identified to boost
trade between the two countries. Specific reference was made to the maritime
and aviation sectors as possible areas of co-operation particularly in relation
to the Almaty Programme of Action.

As a landlocked country, Kazakhstan is part of the Almaty Programme of
Action that seeks to provide landlocked countries with access to infrastructure
in order to promote and participate in global trade.

Minister Orazbakov also extended an invitation to Minister Radebe to visit
Kazakhstan as part of the initial stages for the formalisation of transport
co-operation between the two countries.
