Soweto, Johannesburg - Transport Minister, Jeff Radebe, will officially host
a two-day Transport Indaba that will take place in Soweto. The Transport Indaba
will bring under one roof, government leaders and senior government officials,
non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community based organisations, transport
stakeholders and users, and business from across the country to deliberate on
transport matters.
Three key policy documents, recently approved by Cabinet will be among some
of the focus areas to come under the spotlight during the two days. Discussion
commissions will look closely at:
* the 2010 transport action plan
* the public transport strategy
* the road safety strategy.
The Indaba will culminate in the consolidation of recommendations from
discussion commissions being compiled into a report.
