Transport Minister Jeff Radebe sends condolence to bereaved
families

Tshwane: Minister Jeff Radebe has expressed shock at the killing of 19
people in a train accident in the Western Cape this morning. Expressing his
condolences to the bereaved families, Minister Radebe called for a speedy, yet
thorough investigation of the accident.

A truck carrying farm workers was hit by a train at a level crossing in
Firngrove, closer to Somerset West, resulting in the loss of innocent lives.
The Rail Safety Regulator and the South African Rail Commuter Corporation are
already at the scene to establish the cause of the accident.

The Minister is being briefed on the developments of the investigation as it
unfolds and the Ministry will issue a detailed statement as more information
becomes available.
