J Radebe to deliver address at Non Motorised and Intermediate Means of
Transport conference, 22 Feb

Expanding the boundaries of non motorised and intermediate
means of transport for sustainable livelihoods

Gauteng: Transport Minister, Jeff Radebe will give a keynote address at the
opening of the first ever Non-Motorised and Intermediate Means of Transport
Conference and Exhibition to take place at Gallagher Estate in Midrand. The
two-day conference will host international and local speakers who will present
papers on non-motorised transport policies and strategies, the 2010 Soccer
World Cup and other key issues.

It will look at ways to improve accessibility and mobility in the poorly
serviced areas by integrating non-motorised transportation into socio-economic
development activities. Learners from different provinces will receive bicycles
at the close of the conference, concluding the conference in a cycle ride.

Parallel to the conference will be an exhibition featuring bicycles,
tricycles, cycling gear, accessories and equipment, the history of cycles and
cycling and animal drawn carts.
