The Acting Minister of Health, Mr Jeff Radebe held a briefing meeting with
the Deputy Health Minister Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge and the senior management
of the Department of Health at the department's offices in Pretoria today.
The meeting was aimed at introducing the management of the department and
providing a comprehensive briefing to Minister Radebe on the various programmes
of the Department of Health.
At the meeting, Minister Radebe wished Health Minister, Dr Manto
Tshabalala-Msimang a speedy recovery and pledged to support the department in
enhancing the implementation of its programmes which are making a difference in
the health of the people of South Africa.
Minister Radebe said the Ministries of Health and Transport will work
together to ensure that his programme covers all the necessary responsibilities
for the two portfolios (Health and Transport).
In his first public engagement as the Acting Minister of Health, Minister
Radebe will be joining Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa in the official opening
of the newly built Pretoria Academic Hospital which takes place tomorrow, 2
March 2007.
