Pretoria - Transport Minister Jeff Radebe, Environmental Affairs Minister
Marthinus van Schalkwyk and Lesotho Transport Minister N Masithela will jointly
perform the sod turning and border post relocation project to be held as
follows:
Date: Tuesday, 18 July 2006
Venue: Sani Pass Border Post (Underberg - outside Pietermaritzburg)
Time: 09h30 for 10h00
The total cost to this project is R160 million and involves the upgrading of
the 33,1 km access road from current gravel to a sealed road from the Himeville
intersection to the Sani Pass top. It forms part of the regional road link,
linking South Africa with the Mokhotlong area of Lesotho.
NB: Transport will be available at the Durban Playhouse (Next to Royal
Hotel) at 06h30 for 07h00 for members of the media who will be attending the
event. A media briefing will be held with the Ministers on site at the sod
turning.
