The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Dr Jean Benjamin will tomorrow,
16 November 2006, visit the community of Calvinia in the Northern Cape to
promote the rights of persons with disabilities.
November is regarded as Disability Month, and the Deputy Minister will
highlight the challenges facing people with disabilities living in remote rural
areas. She will raise awareness about services available to persons with
disabilities, and how these can be accessed. The Deputy Minister will also
launch the Disability Action Group for Children network at the gathering, to
promote care and support for children with disabilities.
The mass meeting and interaction will take place at the Calvinia Sports
Ground, at 09h00.
