vulnerable households
13 December 2006
The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Dr Jean Benjamin will meet with
child-headed families and other vulnerable households at Bokfontein in Brits on
Friday, 15 December 2006 to ascertain their needs during the festive season and
beyond.
"To every child this time of the year is special, we want to let these
children know that they are special too and that someone does care for them,"
said Dr Benjamin.
In partnership with North West provincial Department of Social Development
and the Madibeng Local Municipality the department will roll out programmes in
the area focusing mainly on educating the community about social services that
will contribute to the improvement of their lives as well as sustainable jobs
and income generation.
Officials from the South African Social Security Agency will also register
those who qualify for social grants.
"The only way we can facilitate better lives for our people is through
partnerships and co-operation within the various spheres of government and this
project consolidates that," Dr Benjamin added.
