Independent Electoral Commission to host municipal by-elections, 31

Municipal ward by-elections will take place in KwaZulu-Natal and North West
on Wednesday, 31 October 2007, the Electoral Commission said.

A total of five wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 22 voting
districts.

In KwaZulu-Natal the following wards are contested:

* Ward 6 in n Umtshsezi [Escourt] Municipality – KZN234 with 4115 registered
voters
* Ward 1 in Umvoti [Greytown] Municipality – KZN245 with 3450 registered
voters
* Ward 4 in Nkandla [Nkandla] Municipality – KZN286 with 3149 registered
voters
* Ward 13 in Umzimkhulu [Umzimkulu] Municipality – KZN435 with 3874 registered
voters

In North West one ward will be contested:

* Ward 12 in Ramothsere Moiloa [Zeerust] Municipality – NW385 with 3657
registered voters
