Committee of Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)

The Gauteng-based commercial radio station, Kaya FM, will appear before the
Independent Communications Authority of South Africa's Complaints and
Compliance Committee (CCC) for allegedly contravening its licence condition.
Other radio stations to appear before the CCC are Radio Platorand and Radio 786
which is alleged to have not set up a legal entity as required by its licence
condition.
The Complaints and Compliance Committee has been established in terms of the
ICASA Amendment Act 3 of 2006, which states that the committee shall not
consist of more than seven members, one of whom must be a councillor. The
Committee replaces the Broadcasting Monitoring and Complaints Committee (BMCC)
established in terms of the ICASA Act of 2000.
