Publication of 2006 Municipal Elections Results

The Chief Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission (IEC), Adv Pansy
Tlakula, said today that the IEC has published the final results as well as the
determination of councillors for the 2006 Municipal Elections in Government
Gazette No. 28603 under Notice 222 on Wednesday, 8 March 2006.
Section 5(1)(n) of the Electoral Commission Act, No 51 of 1996, determines
that the results of elections for national, provincial and municipal
legislative bodies should be declared within seven days after such
elections.
