Municipal ward by-elections will take place in the Eastern Cape,
KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West and the Western Cape on
Wednesday, 6 December 2006, the Electoral Commission said.
A total of 12 wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 40 voting
districts in the following wards:
⢠Eastern Cape: Ward 9 in Inxuba Yethemba [Cradock] Municipality with 3 073
registered voters
⢠KwaZulu-Natal: Ward 20 in ETH â eThekwini [Durban Metro] Municipality with 15
162 registered voters; Ward 10 in Hibiscus Coast [Port Sheptone] Municipality â
KZ216 with 3 163 registered voters; Ward 4 in Emnambithi/Ladysmith [Ladysmith]
Municipality â KZ232 with 3 246 registered voters; Ward 27 in Newcastle
[Newcastle] Municipality â KZ252 with 3 787 registered voters and Ward 13 in
KwaDukuza [Stanger] Municipality â KZ292 with 4 065 registered voters
⢠Mpumalanga: Ward 26 in Govan Mbeki [Highveld Ridge] Municipality with 4 707
registered voters; Ward 3 in Mbombela [Nelspruit] Municipality â MP322 with 6
029 registered voters and Ward 14 also in Mbombela [Nelspruit] Municipality â
MP322 with 5 891 registered voters
⢠Limpopo: Ward 4 in Ba-Phalaborwa (Phalaborwa) Municipality â NP334 with 3 356
registered voters
⢠North West: Ward 18 in Mafikeng [Mafikeng] Municipality â NW383 with 3 526
registered voters and
⢠Western Cape: Ward 23 in Drakenstein [Paarl] Municipality â WC023 with 3 340
registered voters
