ICASA to conduct roadshows on ICT for youth in Limpopo

Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)
conducts road shows for young people

23 January 2006

ICASA will be conducting road shows specifically for youth throughout South
Africa. The purpose of the roadshow is to make youth aware about developments
that are taking place in the information, communication and technology (ICT)
sector.

The roadshow targets unemployed graduates, school leavers and students who
can contribute to the transformation growth of the ICT. The telecommunications
and broadcasting operators, as well as other companies in the ICT, who will
also inform the youth about developmental programmes, will accompany ICASA.

Youth will be mobilised through the offices of youth’s organisational
structures, local municipalities and traditional leaders. Presentation and
exhibitions will be made at the local halls at various areas in the respective
provinces.

ICASA is the regulator for the South African communications sector,
responsible for the regulation of broadcasting and telecommunications services.
ICASA calls on all youth organisations to assist in mobilising their
constituencies so that they do not miss this opportunity. In Limpopo, the
roadshows will be held at the beginning of February 2006.
