African Post Office (SAPO)
2 February 2007
Communications Minister, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri has received a preliminary
report from the forensic investigator that looked at the corporate governance
issues at the South African Post Office.
Mr Andrew Maralack of the auditing firm, SizweNtsaluba VSP Forensics was
appointed to investigate SAPO with the scope of the investigation inclusive of,
but not limited to, the allegations of all parties regarding corporate
governance issues, as well as management actions. The draft report regarding
the former head has been received.
The Minister will seek legal opinion on aspects of this report. The second
and final report looking at management issues is expected by the end of
February. However, should the second report raise any issues that are related
to or have a bearing on the first report, the first report might have to be
changed.
The Minister would like to emphasise the seriousness in which the report is
treated and would like to assure all South Africans that government will waste
no time in implementing the recommendations of the investigation once
concluded.
