South Africa is hosting the seventh African Network Information Centre
(AfriNIC) Public Policy meeting in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal this week to discuss
issues related to internet protocol, internet protocol numbers management and
internet governance in Africa.
The meeting will be held as follows:
Date: 25 to 28 September 2007
Venue: Sun Coast Conference Centre, Durban
Time: 09h00 to 17h00
The Minister of Communications, Dr Ivy Matsepe Casaburri will deliver the
keynote address on the 26 September 2007. The AfriNIC meeting brings together
African Internet Service Providers, telecommunications experts and policy
makers in the sphere of internet number resources, to discuss issues of
internet governance; internet security in Africa; internet access costs and
Africa's contribution to the Internet Governance Forum.
AfriNIC is a non-profit organisation, incorporated in 1995 as a Regional
Internet Registry for Africa. Its mission is to provide professional
distribution of number resources to the African internet community and
strengthen internet governance in Africa by encouraging a participative policy
development. We are expecting participants from Africa and other regions For
